Technology integration in the teaching/learning process

The importance of technology integration in the teaching/learning process

The integration of technology in the classroom over recent years has revitalized the teaching and learning process. Even before the event of covid-19 pandemic, technology was already been integrated in the curriculum as a tool to enhance the teaching and learning process. The following list are the reasons why the integration of technology in the teaching and learning is important:

·         Technology makes teaching easy

Students may have difficulties understanding the theoretical explanations that teachers normally used before the integration of technology in their lessons. The integration of technology however, has provided various ways in which teachers can deliver lessons to their students which will deepen their understanding and enhance student’s participation.

·         Technology helps teachers to track students’ progress

Teachers are no longer limited to write up simple journals about each student but now they are provided with platforms and tools can be used to track the individual performance of students.

·         Technology, students enjoy learning

Students are addicted to social media. The internet can distract them from the learning process, but teachers are able to take advantage of their tendency to spend time online for good reason. Make learning fun. Teachers can make their lessons more interactive with the different online presentations.

 ·         Technology makes distance learning more accessible than ever

The Internet has provided great opportunity for learning to access all any kind of information at anytime and anywhere. Distance learning has become one of the most popular learning methods especially by adult learners. Students are able to organize their time in a way that suits them and easily acquire the knowledge they are interested in.

·         Students and teachers can access information at any time

Technology integration makes access to information easier and quicker. Students now have easy access to newspapers, academic papers, research, and other content online. They can write better and more solid research papers because they can support their argument with more evidence.

·         Technology makes collaboration more effective

In the traditional classroom setting teachers organize groups, assign projects, and suddenly the class becomes completely confused. Some students express their opinions loudly and firmly, while others do not have the opportunity to hear their opinions. Online tools and apps provide a unique environment for students to participate in group projects. You can work from home. The team is connected via the internet and is inspired by a centralized environment.
